Cliquer ICI pour Français Cayo Paredón is a tiny island of approximately 8.7 km2 in the archipelago of Jardines del Rey (King's garden) to the north of the largest island of the region, Cayo Romano in Cuba. This island, whose full name is Cayo Paredón Grande is located in an area where the environment is protected by the Cuban government. The bridge connecting the island of Cayo Coco to Cayo Romano is being repaired following a major hurricane that occurred few years ago. To access Cayo Paredón, it is mandatory to obtain a permit, even if it is only for a short visit. The bridge separates the province of Ciego de Avila et celle de Camaguey. Cayo Paredón is well known by the fly fishermen who stays in hotels in Cayo Coco. As the road is under construction, the fishermen go to the island by boat from the Marina of Cayo Coco, located at the east end of the island (5 minutes from the Melia Cayo Coco). Cayo Paredón is also a 5 kilometers long virgin pristine beach (located North-East), Playa Los Pinos or Playa del Norte. To the north, there is a great lighthouse (Faro Paredón Grande) « Faro Diego Velázquez » of 40 meters high (131 feet) built in 1857, overlooking the region where the sight is beautiful.
By the road, Cayo Paredón Grande is located just 25 km from the International Airport of Cayo Coco (CCC) which is even a shorter route than going to Cayo Guillermo, the island west of Cayo Coco, with four hotels, a marina and the famous « Playa Pilar » beach where naturism is tolerated at the west end. WHY A WEB SITE DEDICATED TO CAYO PAREDON ? ... well, as Cuba is continually developing the tourism industry, there is a project to build three hotels on the island of Cayo Paredón Grande. This will be like a second Cayo Guillermo only thirty minutes from the airport of Cayo Coco. Lily and I are constantly looking for new tourism development in Cuba, as you can see by our dozen of web sites of this beautiful and friendly country in the Caribbean. As a matter of fact, we so enjoyed the experience of Cayo Santa Maria, when the hotel Sol Cayo Santa Maria (4 *) opened its doors in 2001 in a pristine environment, since then we are looking to relive the experience you do not see often, a hotel on a pristine island! We will closely monitor the development of this tourist attraction. Please revisit our website to learn more about Cayo Paredón Grande. A paradise to come! Upon opening the first hotel, we will be there for sure!
